Makeup Brushes

I did my research you could say when it comes to buying my brushes. I don't know about you, but money is sparse these days when it comes to my fiance and I. He's a full time graduate student and I'm trying to find a job. We also have a dog and have a wedding around the corner, so money has been tight.

I found the perfect brushes for great prices thanks to so many peoples reviews through their trial and error. I absolutely LOVE, love, Love my Sonia Kashuk makeup brushes. You can get these at Target. Sonia Kashuk has two lines, the white ones and the black ones. I purchased the black, it seems like the quality is about the same but the handles are just a bit more sophiscated and studio looking for about $5-$10 more. So, I went with the pretty white ones. ^_^
Wonderful quality and for great price. Cannot beat it, absolutely. I love the feeling of each of these brushes. I probably use my sable eyeshadow brush the most, hence love it the most! :D The small blending brush I use for making eyeshadow into an eyeliner underneath my lower lashes and sometimes top lashes. But because the way they made it or maybe my lids/eyes are small I haven't really used the crease brush too much because I feel that its too large. I feel that this is a brush I'll soon come to love soon enough. But I'm kinda afraid that I'll apply too much eyeshadow or just mess up, haha. Anyway, 5 big stars to these brushes. Now I know why everyone loves them!

Now, if you want a huge bang for head over to your local CVS. (I drove from Norfolk to Chesapeake and found out that the CVS there was not opened and was even in the process of getting its ABC license. Then drove all the way to Virginia Beach and back to Norfolk, just to get these bad boys!) If your lucky, CVS might even have a sale were you can get them for even cheaper. These brushes let me tell you...silky, soft, and if you blind folded me and told me to guess the price I would think around $15-$30 dollars a brush. I got the Essence of Beauty Deluxe Duo brushes and it even came with a nice little fluffy brush as a bonus! (I use these brush for blending my outer V and for overall blending of eyeshadows) And believe it or not I got it for $15! Amazing. I love them too, I just haven't used them too much because I don't use foundation, concealer, and blush very often. (Because I don't really have any! haha) So once again for quality, softness, great price, and user friendly I rate 4.5 Stars. My only compliant is that I have to store them on the side. But psh. That really isn't a big deal. :P

Ruby Red Slippers! Review

As I usually do, I love looking at other blogs and I learned new, well new to me brands. I stumbled across China Glaze and fell absolutely in love with China Glaze's Wizard of Ahhs nail colours, especially Red Pumps.

A day or so later my fiance and I went into Walgreens. I went to the makeup aisle and found a perfect duplication! Milani makes a beautiful color at around $4.99? called Ruby Jewels. With two coats of this nail polish you feel like the lollipop gang is singing to you and your about to head out and an amazing adventure full of characters that fill your heart.
Which reminds me, I couldn't help but want to grab these shoes when I was at the Prime Outlet's in the converse store! :D

Coastal Scents Review

It's been a week or so since my Coastal Scents products have arrived at my door. To everyone who has raved and reviewed the 88 Warm Palette. I have to agree! The pigments are great, and for the price I'm astonished to see at the end of the day my eyeshadow hasn't moved a bit! I don't even use a eyeshadow primer on my lids! Really, it's a great palette I bought it because I'm trying to make a very professional look for all my job interviews and to practice with makeup before my wedding. And really, if you were just starting on your makeup collection (like me!) I really think this is a must have. It has a great selection of colours from matte, to shimmer, to ones that even have quite a bit of glitterness to them! I love it. I give the 88 warm palette ***** (5 Stars). For it's price, its the best thing! ($25)

Now, I'm really really NOT impressed with the camo quads which I bought 3. I bought the color corrector, light skin, and medium. When the light and medium camo quads dry, they look very cakey on my skin. And I do not have very dry skin either. Even after mixing it with lotion, I really would NOT recommend these for concealers at all. But I think there is still hope for the color corrector camo quad. Like I said the product drys cakey, so if you can afford a more expensive color corrector. Buy it, because its something you will use all the time. For now this is okay if I use a tiny dab on my acne. Otherwise, I really wouldn't use it. I definately would not recommend these, and certainly will not repurchase. After such great reviews on youtube and on the Coastal Scents I bought these products, I am very very disappointed.

Dance in the Vampire Bund

I just started watching Dance in Vampire Bund yesterday and so far I'd like to say its very good. It immediately jumps into the story, it continues to have alot of action, drama and so forth for its first 5 episodes that I've seen. There isn't much comedy, but there is supernatural (vampires, werewolves, etc), drama, romance, action, and the plot makes adjustments here and there. I like that it is showing how a Vampire Queen finally decides to try to make a vampire society a part of the human society. It will be very interesting to find out where it goes next.

Elfen Lied

I just finished watching the anime called Elfen Lied. It's actually a beautifully done anime to describe it correctly. There's comedy, drama, romance, fighting, supernatural, and just everything combined just right. It isn't a drawn out anime either, but the end to it was just perfect. I know this is an older anime, but it caught my attention and decided to watch it. I fell in love. Once again, great anime to watch. Only 13 episodes. The music in the beginning and how everything falls into place was wonderful. I really recommend this anime to all viewers.

Right now I'm watching Mai Hime. It's been about a month since I've watched anime. I've been so wrapped up in wedding stuff and also my makeup research that it just kinda slid past my mind. But now that Brent has a new video game and plays it for hours, I thought it would be a good idea to watch some anime! I also watched Bleach episode 255, I'm so glad they are done with that arch. It was so drawn out and I felt like the drawing done with it wasn't like their usual quality. Bah. I hope good things are coming our way when it comes to the new season/arch.

Makeup Reviews and Tutorials

So, lately I have been binge watching makeup tutorials on youtube. This little hobby began maybe 6-8 months ago by watching MissChievous. Who by the way is amazing! She is my favorite so far.
Due to this, I've been thinking of actually doing my makeup. I've always worn eyeliner, mostly black liquid eyeliner. But thats about it. I've gone on and off with pressed foundation but I never liked the finish on my skin. And I've tried liquid foundation but can't seem to get a colour that matches my skin correctly.
So, I've done my research and I've signed up at MakeupAlley to read reviews on makeup brushes, makeup, face cleansers and the like. I've watched reviews from Youtubers on products. And I've decided to take the plunge into makeup, for serious.
I know I'm not ugly or anything and need to hide my face or anything. But I think it would be fun to learn how do makeup correctly. So in my blog I will tell you about my ventures in to makeup, makeup brushes, and the like and give you my opinion.

I started first on skincare. Because it doesn't matter how much makeup you buy if you don't take good care of your skin. And I absolutely feel in love with this product: Aveen Daily Complexion Moisturizer (I think this is the name). It has already started to smooth out my skin, my pores seemed to have shrunk some, and my face feels 10x better compared to using Clean & Clear moisturizer. By the way, both of these have salicylic acid in them. I use them because I have combination skin, some of my skin is oily/normal and then some is dry. So I need something that moisturizers and fights acne. If you need a lotion of this, I definately recommend Aveenos. It's amazing.

Anyways, I just thought to share the wealth. Youtube has alot of junk on it. But you can really find some great tutorials, reviews, and fun stuff to be had when it comes to makeup. Because if your just buying something without research, its even a bigger hit or miss.

Unbelievable to say the least

"You get what everyone else gets, a lifetime!"-My Chemical Romance

I can't really describe how I feel now that I've stained my pillow in eyeliner and mascara. I feel like I have the largest meat cleaver in my spine. But I'm in shock and can't feel it yet. My best friend which I've been more than a best friend to, told me today that she doesn't want to be my friend. There are no words to describe how I feel. It hurts, my eyes feel like they about to break the dam of my eyelids and scream tarring my cheeks, leaving its mark behind. I don't want to ever talk about her again, I don't want to see her face, I don't want to hear her name, because it hurts too much.

I lost the one person that I thought would never do this to me. It's disgusting to say the least, to be someone's best friend, be there for them and do anything for them throughout the time you know them and then have them ignore you for over a month. Then they send you a petty Facebook message. What the hell?

If you make me hurt so badly and say I don't want to be your friend and then say maybe in the future maybe we can be friends. And say you won't come to your wedding..who the hell would let you come back into their life after doing that? I can't believe this...

"To wage this war against your faith in me...your life will never be the same!"-My Chemical Romance

I loved you. You were my best friend. I can't do this again. I don't understand why you would do this to someone you called a best friend. I hope you start to understand life and one day realize how selfish and hurtful you were.

Flying by

Days are flying by oh so quickly much to my delight and much to my stress.
I'm very excited for the wedding that is coming up. But there is still so much for me to do. But, I hate asking for help or even receiving it as odd as it sounds to many. I'm very...stubborn and full of pride, which has often been to my downfall. Brent's family has been more than amazing, giving help, suggestions and so forth. Kristi is still looking for a dress. Brent is trying to get a minister to marry us.
I know I have alot to do. Unfortunately, I am the worst procrastinator anyone will have the unfortunate event of meeting if they need something done NOW. Which can be kinda funny because I'm pretty predictable in those cases. But I guess I need to pull it together and make a beautiful wedding for everyone to attend.
Anyways, I have a job interview with Wacovia on Monday morning. I'm very excited and have some studying to do before it, but I think as long as I come in looking good and present myself well then I hope I get the job. I do not know how many are applying to the jobs, but after getting a professional attire. I hope it does not go to waste because Brent and I need this job.
Most people don't know. But I have decided to no longer attend school. You can think I'm a waste, a loser, or whatever. But, I just don't know what I want at the time. I think I will work really hard for awhile until Brent and I can get on our feet. And then one day I will go back to school. I think in 10 years or so, I will go to school and learn how to bake and open up a bakery just like my mother wanted to do one day. I know it's lame, but I think it's something I'd love to do. I'd love to serve people delicious baked breads, like I once had as a child from a French Bakery only several miles from my home. To watch someone enjoy their delicious desserts and start the day with a fresh real expresso. But this isn't something I want to do now.
I hate the way America molds high schoolers into thinking that if you don't have a college degree that you will say, "Would you like fries with that?" It's disgusting. Just do what you enjoy, do what you love, and don't think about what others say about you. Be happy. That's life. You only have one.

Makeup

Lately, well for several months, I've been watching tutorials on makeup. I love learning new techniques and ideas to apply makeup. Since I'm getting married soon, I decided I want to do my makeup by myself. Yes, some might think so what or that this is a brave move. But I've always enjoyed doing my own makeup. In high school I was kinda known for my weird makeup, besides other different things.
But Brent has been a sweet heart and bought me some makeup so I can start working on beautiful and professional makeup looks. Since most of my makeup is for an "alternative" lifestyle I've lead since highschool.

I decided to go with Coastal Scents and I got the 88 Warm Palette. There is literally around 100 reviews on that one product alone and I've watched tutorials with people using the product and it looks greats for so many different applications. For smokey eyes, natural makeup, and professional looks this palette covers them all. For only $25 dollars, which is cheap for what you get, how could I not get it?

Because like everyone else there are things on your face you want to hide like freckles, blue circles under the eyes, acne, or self tanning bloopers. I decided it would be a great investment to get a color corrector. Now, I've been looking for a color corrector online here and there and they are all expensive. The great thing about Coastal Scents is the quality is NOT cheap, but you get a great price. So I finally found a color corrector that my wallet, well in this case, Brent's would object to. At only $7.95, it went straight into my cart!

The Camo Quad comes in 4 different sets, one which I just mentioned the color corrector, light skin, medium skin, and dark. I decided I wanted to get a concealer. But for years I've had a problem finding the right shade for my face. I'm in between a light and a medium. So I decided since everyone talked about how amazing these quads were that I would be best off getting the fair and the medium. That way I can be sure I can get the right shades. They come in a creamy consistency and I can't wait to see if they work. I've always used powders but they never looked right on my skin and I stopped using foundation several years ago because I just couldn't stand the way it turned out. So I hope the reviews are right and that I will fall in love with these makeup products.
Here's the light/fair skin camo quad concealer:

And here's the medium skin camo quad concealer:

I still have more shopping to do when it comes to makeup. I need to get makeup brushes to blend eyeshadows, to apply eyeliner, blush brushes and so forth. I need to get waterproof mascara, I'll probably cry at the wedding, and several good eyeliners. I'll also need to get an eyebrow pencil and maybe some lipsticks. I'm ready to look like beautiful and polished adult. :D

Something New

So, since planning for wedding is underway. I've been thinking of what jewelery to wear, hair accessories, and of course shoes. For a long time, I've been thinking of customizing a pair of Chuck Taylor High Tops. But Mr. Chuck Taylor has already taken care of that! :D Converse now makes Neon Pink high tops, but even better, X-High tops so now I know what will be hiding underneath my duponi silk dress.

They look something like this. Except not as bright, like a shade down or so and the piping is black not neon on the upper part of the rubber. (Sorry I have an eye for detail!) Well...I do need shoes to walk down the eisle. I have something old (my wedding gown), something blue (my mother's ring), so if I get these all I'll need is something borrowed. I can justify new shoes that I'll wear besides the big day. I think someone might let me borrow a wedding veil. :D If not ah, oh well no biggie.

Anime

I realize, through the past several years. I have watched ALOT of anime. I mean there are names of anime I can't even remember. I still haven't been to a anime convention yet, but I hope the day will come eventually.

I feel that sometimes it's an unhealthy obsession, well more like an addiction. It's just too cute and the story just unravels before you right in front of your eyes. It's like a book to me and I just can't get enough of it. I mean there are some anime seasons I've watched 4 to 5 times because I love them so much!

Brent loves DragonBalls and Full Metal Alchemist. But I think that's it. Ah, could be worse. And he puts up with all the pink Hello Kitty stuff and Disney Beauty and the Beast stuff I have. (He won't let us have a Hello Kitty wedding though, shucks! :P )

Anyway, right now I'm watching Mai Hime. It's an otay anime. I was watching Asura Crying but decided I didn't like it. But I started watching Elfen Lied and thats a great anime. But I can't seem to find many sub Elfen Lied out there. I can't stand Dub, its weird. :P

Welcome to my blog

I'm excited that you decided to stop by!

Feel free to look through my blog. I hope you enjoy! Take care!

Wedding day!

Oh wow, time has gone by oh so fast!
My fiancee and I have picked out our wedding bands and now have a wedding date! Atleast we are about (90%) sure about the date, but thats alot more than we had even a month ago. Brent decided on getting a Goldman's gold and platinum wedding band and I decided on getting an engraved band by Whitehurst that closely relates to my engagement ring.

We were going to have our wedding at my church in Richmond, VA. But I decided in the long run it would be a hassel to everyone, including ourselves if we did our wedding there. We would have to time everything perfectly and I want everyone to enjoy the day. I don't want our wedding to be something that I'm wishing to be over. Plus, the eisel there is sooo long! I don't want people watching me go up the eisel that long, haha.

I think most of the wedding things I'm going to do our DIY or semi DIY. It will save us alot of money and we can still have a nice wedding under a budget. But alas..the wedding is in less than three months!! Yikes. And all we have is my wedding dress and our rings ordered and thats it! So I'm a bit worried, but I'm sure everything will be fine in the end.
